Disability

My research examines the construction and deconstruction of ability in postsecondary education.  I investigate how law and policy shape institutional services that support students with disability.  I am also interested in educational programs provided to faculty and staff regarding students with disabilities and current and best practices for supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).   My recent publications focus on the experience of students with disabilities who attend two-year public institutions, the role that disability services plays in creating a socially just campus, and methodological issues related to disability research.

Dissertation:
My dissertation focuses broadly on policies and practices that support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in postsecondary education.  Specifically I am interested in the types of accommodations and support services that are provided to students with ASD, methods that disability service providers use to educate faculty, and promising practices for disability service providers.
